SHELL HELIX D-Academy Defensive Driving Course

Last month, I blogged about how to Win An Exclusive Invitation To The Shell Helix D-Academy Defensive Driving Course and 30 lucky winners had attended the programme.

On 17 February, 30 lucky winners from the Shell Helix D-Academy Facebook contest had the opportunity to attend a special defensive driving course dedicated to compact cars organised by Shell Helix in conjunction with the introduction of the new Shell Helix HX7 E synthetic-technology motor oil. The participants for the exclusive course worth RM1,000 per pax were selected from nearly 100 entries received over a two-week period for the Shell Helix D-Academy Facebook contest held in January 2012.

The programme started with a one hour theory session on the basics of defensive driving. Topics that were covered included the correct seating and steering position, understanding the dynamics at work in a skidding vehicle and safety features in modern cars and how they work.

Following a quick demonstration on the correct seating and steering positions, participants went on to take part in a practical session that comprised three different driving activities such as Skid Control, Braking Technique and Driving Dynamics.

In Skid Control, participants had the chance to experience understeer and oversteer with instructors showing how to identify and overcome such situations. With this exercise, participants were able to understand and value safety features such as VSA (Vehicle Stability Assist) or ESP (Electronic Stability Programme).

Learning how to control a skidding car on an oily surface

In the Braking Technique exercise, participants practiced emergency braking in a straight line which was then followed by braking and avoidance using ABS (Anti-lock Braking System).

Many were surprised to learn that ABS did not mean stronger braking or stopping ability. The feature was actually designed to enable you to steer your vehicle away from an obstacle when applying emergency braking. Without ABS, the vehicle’s wheels would lock under hard braking and continue to go straight ahead despite efforts to steer the vehicle away from danger.

Finally, during the Driving Dynamics exercise, participants were able to practice vehicle control and steering skills. Effective steering methods would enable one to avoid a potential hazard on the road rather quickly. To make things interesting, all participants were judged by instructors and points were awarded based on their performance in each exercise.

Two lucky participants, Kenneth Chiew, 32, and Mark McVernon Young, 30, finished with the highest scores and walked away with a Samsung Galaxy Tab each.

Kenneth, a motorsports enthusiast since young who had attended two other driver training programmes before, believed in the adage ‘one can never stop learning.’

“Winning one of the two Grand Prizes was an unexpected bonus as I took part to refresh my knowledge. I like the Shell Helix D-Academy as the programme was comprehensive and everything was properly explained by the instructors,” he said.

For Mark, flying in from Kuching to attend the defensive driving programme was well worth the effort and money spent.

“I have to drive two and a half hours every weekend between my workplace in Sri Aman and my family home in Kuching. What I learned today would definitely help me on the road, although I wished the programme was longer,” he said.

Edmond Capel was delighted that his 18 year-old son, Edwin, was selected to take part in the Shell Helix D-Academy and said, “Good driving habits should be inculcated at the beginning and this is definitely useful for my son who has only been driving for about a year.”

For 24-year old engineering student Sabree Abdullah, the Shell Helix D-Academy was an eye-opener as some basics such as the correct seating and steering positions were not emphasised in driving school.

“Defensive driving should be incorporated in the syllabus for learner drivers here in Malaysia. What I have learned and experienced today made me realise that it is invaluable,” he suggested.

Shell Helix believes that protection should not only be given to the engine but also to the driver, hence, the decision to organise the special defensive driving course to mark the launch of its Shell Helix HX7 E synthetic technology motor oil that is formulated specially for compact cars.

My 1st IMAX 3D Experience for "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" @ TGV Sunway Pyramid!

Last Thursday evening, I was at TGV Sunway Pyramid with a group of friends to watch my very 1st IMAX 3D movie! Specially thanks to TGV for the invitations to watch the re-release "Transformers: Dark Of The Moon" in Digital 3D IMAX @TGV Sunway Pyramid.

Alright, no more photos as the movie was about to start when we seated comfortablyi in the hall. We wore our IMAX 3D Glasses and started to enjoy my all time favourite Transformers movie!

This was my1st time watch Transformer in IMAX 3D and it was awesome! Crystal clear images + powerful audio system and I could feel as if I'm in the movie with Bumblebee!

Besides that, the IMAX 3D hall also have comfy seat with wide legroom space!

I had a great movie date with my friends! :)

Blackheads, pimples and spots always with me since my teenage years. I'm using full range of skin care to maintain my healthy skin and exfoliation is one of the important steps in my weekly skin care routine.

Barbara Palvin is the latest revelation to hit the world of fashion. PUMA Social Finale Party was one of the party I attended with my buddy, Wendy in December last year and now I finally have time to blog about this party! :D

The PUMA Social team ran roadshows and club events, known as “PUMA Social Club Nights’, where after-hours athletes were given the opportunity to experience PUMA’s quirky interpretation of bowling at designated lanes within each participating club.

The club events took place in key market centres:

Klang Valley, 25 November at Ecoba, Damansara Perdana and 26 November, Movida, Sunway Giza. Penang, 2 December at Fuel, Autocity; Melaka, 9 December at Movida; and finally 10 Johor Bahru, December at Hola Pub & Bistro.

I was invited to attend the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall's Lunar New Year media launch "Majestic Rising". This media launch was held at the mall concourse. I was impressed with Sunway Pyramid's 2012 Lunar New Year decorations - the red gleaming eyes, huge golden dragon stands 30 in height dominating the mountain landscape in the concourse of the mall.

This media launch was graced by Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung, Minister of Housing & Local Government; Dato' Ngeow Voon Yean, Managing Director of Property Investment Division of Sunway Group; Dato's Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip, Chief Executive Office Officer of Sunway REIT; HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Pyramid and Kelvin Tan, Chief Operating Officer of Sunway Pyramid.

Welcome note by Mr HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Pyramid. In his speech, he says " Dragons are believed to be associated with the weather and particularly water, so shoppers can take pleasure in an impressive waterfall at the Concourse this Lunar Year."

PETRONAS Launch HEART-WARMING TVC For Chinese New Year 2012

Every Chinese New Year, I am looking forward to the PETRONAS television commercial (TVC). Their TVC is always very touching and meaningful.

On 17 January 2012 , members of media and advertising agencies were invited to the Galeri Petronas, KLCC for the Special Preview For PETRONAS Chinese New Year Campaign.

For the Chinese New Year 2012, PETRONAS stays true to the common tradition and values that bind all Malaysians together in the underlying messages of its television commercial (TVC) to usher the year of the Golden Dragon. Members of media present at the special preview of the TVC.

Dato Mohammad Medan Abdullah, PETRONAS’ Senior General Manager of Group Corporate Affairs Division gave his speech during the special preview of its CNY Campaign. In his speech, Dato said “The TVC is meant to celebrate not just the Year of the Dragon, but the spirit of perseverance, adaptability and determination as captured in each of the stories it depicts. This energy is something that should inspire us all as we navigate through the challenges we face in life,”

For this 2012 Chinese New Year, the PETRONAS TVC is titled “Coming Home”. This CNY TVC was shot in Malaysia, England, Belgium, China and India – depicts six separate yet intertwining stories of individuals around the world who, no matter how far they have come in life, stay true to their roots and tradition.

The TVC illustrates what it takes to make life better through a progressive and bold attitude that one holds, opening the mind to new ideas and learn new things, ultimately making one a better human being.

The “Coming Home” TVC will air from 17th January until 6th February 2012.

One Saturday afternoon, I was invited by Jess to join other beauty bloggers for the Givenchy Makeover @Jusco Mid Valley.

I had my hair pampering session with L’OREAL Professionnel Pro-Keratin Treatment, X-tenso Moisturist Straightening services @Cu's and Do's Hair Lounge.

Each customer is provided with a laptop for you to surf while doing your hair treatments.

This is my frizzy and not so moisturize long hair before the Pro-Keratine Care Shine Bond Service. :(

I was introduced to the Director of Cu's & Do's Hair Lounge, Mr Scott. He explained to me how the treatments works and the products use in the Pro-Keratine Care Shine Bond treatment.

I'm gonna say "Bye-bye" to my frizzy hair with the following steps:

1.) Wash my hair with the X-Tenso Care Nutri-Reconstructor Shampoo.

Results:

Restores hair lipids
Maximum shine
Deep nutrition

I had my privilege and pleasure of getting my haircut by Mr Scoot.

2.) Apply the X-Tenso Care Nutri-Reconstructor Pre-Treatment on my hair. Do not rinse and proceed with the X-Tenso Moisturist Smoothing Cream application.

Result:

Hair is reinforced to help protect against damage.

3.) Apply the X-Tenso Moisturist Smoothing Cream (1N-Natural Hair) and the development time is about 15 minutes. Next, rinse the hair before the styling tools.

Result:

Smooth, beautifully silky and shiny hair

4.) Scott uses the heated hair straightener to straighten my hair.

5.) Apply X-Tenso Moisturist Neutralizing Cream and the development time is 10 minutes. Next, rinse the hair.

6.) Apply the X-Tenso Care Nutri-Reconstructor Masque, leave on for about 5 minutes and rinse.

Results:

Deep repairing treatment

Lastly, blow dry hair and use the X-Tenso Care Nutri-Reconstructor Serum as finish.

STRIP: Ministry of Waxing, established in Singapore since 2002 joins hands with The Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) in announcing its latest campaign – Unfurgivable. In association with this campaign, STRIP launches the new and improvised post-care serum – Peace+.

This is me and I'm nervous for my 1st Brazilian wax treatment. (~_~;)

The experienced therapist helped to calm me down and explained to me the whole treatment. Then she started the waxing treatment with Berry Chocolate Wax. The Berry Chocolate Wax is formulated with Titanium Dioxide and its super gentle on the skin.

Yes, it was pain for first-time Brazalian wax newbie like me, especially I'm a low pain tolerance person (#^.^#). However, the pain is not as bad as I thought and the pain is bearable. The whole treatment took about 4o minutes. The post-care serum – Peace+ was applied for instant soothing and moisturising results on the skin after my wax treatment.
