‘Salam from the
Heart’ during this Raya season. Yes, today is the eve of Raya. Most of my friends and readers already back to hometown having the last buka puasa dinner. I also just had my dinner. :)
It is a truly
meaningful Hari Raya in Sunway Pyramid, as the mall embarks on an exotic
escapade by highlighting the finest in shopping experience and most colourful
culture of the Ottoman Empire! The LG1 Main
Concourse is ‘transformed’ into a Mini Grand Bazaar from 19 July till 18
August, as shoppers are immersed with
elements of both Eastern and Western influences that stem from Turkey’s multi-ethnic compromises and fusions.
The Realms of Raya was launched recently by Datuk Seri
Razman M. Hashim, Deputy Chairman of Sunway Group, featuring a Turkish-inspired
dance performance to also welcome Datin Latiffah Kamaruddin; HC Chan, Chief
Executive Officer of Sunway Shopping Malls and Theme Parks; Phang Sau Lian,
General Manager of Marketing, Sunway Shopping Malls; TV personalities Nazrudin Habibur
Rahman and his wife Sheahnee Iman Lee; along with invited guests.

“The Realms of Raya in Sunway Pyramid features the
distinguished Turkish arts and culture, while creating a truly harmonious
effect to blend everything in with the Hari Raya celebrations,” said Phang.
This Ramadan and Syawal, Sunway Pyramid is embarking on a
campaign to reach out to everyone to reflect upon the spirit of the festive
season by remembering the true meaning of the singularly beautiful act of ‘salam’ (handshake). Titled “Salam from
the Heart”, the mall’s S.O.S (Some Of uS) campaign is built upon how the symbolic
act that is often taken for granted.

Along with guests, they performed the ‘United Salam from
the Heart’ to kick-start the campaign, and at the same time, understanding the
simple yet powerful act of the touching of the forehead to the palm which
carries with it connotations of respect, love and kinship.
Nazrudin also shared the family’s salam routine, as when he and Sheahnee got married, salam was among the practice that he
taught her. The habit is consequently taught to their children, something that
strengthens their family ties, in which they both treasure.
“In propagating this, Sunway Pyramid has created a prologue to the campaign in the form of a social video, titled ‘Salam dari Hati’ (Salam from the Heart) which encourages everyone to reflect on the true meaning of salam,” said Phang.

The video is already uploaded on Facebook, which has
garnered a lot of attention from Sunway Pyramid’s fans and being shared on
their walls as well. Both ‘Salam dari Hati’ and ‘Salam from the Heart’ videos
are available on the mall’s Youtube channel at http://www.youtube.com/SunwayPyramid97. 
Exciting activities will also be held throughout the mall
including ‘Salam with Leo and Leona’ where patrons who salam with Leo and Leona
will receive badges from Sunway Pyramid’s endearing mascot and also roving
performances by Turkish-inspired dancers during weekends and public holidays.
Shoppers can also kirim salam by picking up postcards available at all
concierges and at the Mail Box, near the Main Concourse and dropping them off
at the Mail Box and they will be delivered.
On top of that, shoppers can check out the Mini Grand Bazaar at the LG1 Main Concourse where the launch is held which include some of the highlights in the mall such as Laura Mercier, Crabtree & Evelyn, Rimba, Cold Storage, Sofia Iman’s collection, one of the prominent songket and Baju Melayu producers in Malaysia and also Turkish ice cream or ‘dondurma’.
