I was invited to attend the Sunway Pyramid Shopping Mall's Lunar New Year media launch "Majestic Rising". This media launch was held at the mall concourse. I was impressed with Sunway Pyramid's 2012 Lunar New Year decorations - the red gleaming eyes, huge golden dragon stands 30 in height dominating the mountain landscape in the concourse of the mall.
This media launch was graced by Datuk Seri Chor Chee Heung, Minister of Housing & Local Government; Dato' Ngeow Voon Yean, Managing Director of Property Investment Division of Sunway Group; Dato's Jeffrey Ng Tiong Lip, Chief Executive Office Officer of Sunway REIT; HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Pyramid and Kelvin Tan, Chief Operating Officer of Sunway Pyramid.
Welcome note by Mr HC Chan, Chief Executive Officer of Sunway Pyramid. In his speech, he says " Dragons are believed to be associated with the weather and particularly water, so shoppers can take pleasure in an impressive waterfall at the Concourse this Lunar Year."
Mr HC Chan also explained the Sunway Pyramid's festive charity programme. He says, " We have a unique charity campaign known as Some Of uS (S.O.S) and it's our CSR practice throught every festive seasons as well as in time of need. As the Lunar New Year is a time for reunion and gathering, we decided that cheering up the old folks at Rumah Caring Kajang via an open house celebration at their home will gave them the warmth of the festive celebration this year."

Datuk said Sunway Pyramid has taken steps to ensure energy and water savings by using the energy saving light bulbs and elevators. Datuk also added "Sunway Pyramid is also one of the pioneer in introducing the waterless urinals which breaks down urine into environmental friendly components without the use of water."

The Lunar New Year theme, "Majestic Rising" referring to the grandeur rise of the Dragon at Sunway Pyramid's concourse area. The golden Dragon has red gleaming eyes, stands 30 feet in height and emits smoke via its nostrils at certain hours of the day.

In conjunction with the launch, Sunway Pyramid revealed their festive charity programme via a short video, encouraging shoppers to step forward and contribute food and household items to the old folks of Rumahbe volunteers to join the CNY S.O.S Home Refurbishment Charity Campaign , to help clean and decorate the home on the 15th of January 2012 (Sunday), followed by an open house celebration to welcome the year of the Dragon.
